Thursday, January 18: New Langton Arts presents an opening reception for its show, "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", Thursday January 18, 7-9 p.m. The exhibit draws together a group of contemporary artists whose approach to abstract painting challenges that of their predecessors. Presenting a gritty street-smart aesthetic or a geometrized subjectivity, their attitude towards this mode of representation is tough and transgressive, yet testifies to the continued attraction and prominence of a modernist ideality. Exhibits Thursday, January 18 to Saturday, February 24. New Langton Arts is at 1246 Folsom Street. For further information, call (415) 626-5416 or visit www.newlangtonarts.org. |
