Re: BART Snubs Low-Income Fast-Pass Users
May 21, 2007
Dear Editor:
I have a disabled MUNI pass and I purchase BART passes for $9 for $24 of rides. No one with a disabled pass needs to pay $1.50 to ride BART. When they purchase the BART tickets, BART absorbs the cost of the fare. I think that MUNI has to reimburse BART $0.44 per ride when a $45.00 pass is used. Depending on how often that pass is used, it can cost more than the holder paid for it. MUNI needs the money to provide services more than BART does. |
Dear Editor: You have Been Lied to Regarding Ruben’s Work
May 21, 2007
My name is Misha Olivas. I am writing to you in regards to your cover story in the March 2007 issue. I am niece to Jesus “Chuy” Campusano and first cousin to Ruben Guzman. I am sorry to inform you that you have been lied to and it is your duty to make sure that your readers are not further misinformed or manipulated by Suzanne Walterich a.k.a. “Susana Guzman”. Although Suzanne is the common-law widow of my cousin, they were not married and she has no right to use the name Guzman. She was not a part of Ruben’s life when he and my uncle worked together most, was not involved in any of their work and was never an artist herself. |

A Helipad on the Roof of S.F. General Hospital?
Rebecca Sawyer Mar 06, 2006
San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) has requested that the City Planning Department approve a helipad on the roof of the main hospital building, at 1001 Potrero Avenue and 23rd Street. The Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) will be published in March by the City Planning Department. Spokeswoman, Carol Roos, said that the EIR primary focus will be the noise and danger created by the helicopters. These two issues have galvanized neighborhood opposition. |

By Doug Holloway Feb 03, 2006
A large and diverse group of concerned citizens turned out at the Jan. 11 rally in support of the Bernal Preschool returning to the library after completion of scheduled renovations. The rally was given TV news coverage on Channels 2,4,5 and 7. Bond-funded renovations are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2006 and be completed by the fall of 2008. The Preschool, operated by City College, will be housed temporarily at Paul Revere elementary school but desires to return to its home of 26 years at the Bernal Library once renovations are completed. |
