As part of this commitment, our Department of Emergency Management is participating in the National Weather Service's Tsunami-Ready program. This program promotes tsunami hazard preparedness in coastal communities. |
I Am Getting Back to Basics with 2007-2008 City Budget

San Francisco has much to be proud of. In the last three years, we’ve gone from big budget deficits to the highest budget reserve in history. I am proud to report that unemployment is down 38.6 percent and over 6,300 new jobs were created last year. I am encouraged by the prospects of even greater gains for this year with over 60 companies, many of them biotech, having located in – or relocated back to – San Francisco. |
Summer In the City- A Great Time for Youth and Families!!!

Summer is upon us and there are hundreds of reasons to turn off the television this season. Our city’s Recreation and Park Department offers an array of quality, affordable activities and programs for kids of all ages. Some of these programs are traditional ones — trusty standards like the ones you and I may have participated in when we were youngsters. Others are new, innovative programs that cater to the interests of today’s youth. |

311 Ushers in Revolution in Customer Service

With the opening of the new San Francisco 311 Customer Service Center on March 29, 2007, the city will usher in a new era of improved customer service and enhanced government efficiency that will profoundly transform the way city government does business. 3-1-1 is a toll-free, non-emergency phone number that the general public can call to reach a live customer service agent 24 hours day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. San Francisco is now the 27th major metropolitan city to have successfully implemented a 311 system. |
